Evening Injury Update 8/1

Conflicting reports coming out of Richmond, as coach Gruden says running back Chris Thompson will be ready for week one and Thompson himself says he won't be fully recovered until November.  I guess they could both be right, but if that's the case and he's not playing at 100%, we could be seeing more of LSU rookie Derrius Guice in both a rushing and receiving role.  Thompson fractured his fibula last November versus the Saints.

Elsewhere in Redskins camp, wide-out Josh Doctson laid out for a catch and had a defender come down on him as they landed.  He was clearly in pain but after he was evaluated, it was reported that it's a mild sprain/bruise and shouldn't keep him out long term.  Doctson had 35 catches for 502 yards and 6 TDs last year.

In today's starkest reminder that professional football is indeed, a business, Jordan Matthews was released by New England after tweaking his hammy.  A very promising career that started with 19 TD's in his first three seasons has quickly derailed and it's going to be awful hard to catch on somewhere carrying an injury like that.  This move has instantly fanned the "Dez to the Pats" rumors, but I think that might be a little premature as they have plenty of mediocre receivers on the staff already.  Eric Decker on the other hand...
